Frequently Asked Questions

Can I communicate directly with preceptors?

Yes! Once you complete your subscription you will have access to the entire web base of all available preceptors. You then filter for desired preceptor criteria and connect to start communication. Once the preceptor accepts your request, then you can communicate with your preceptor about required paperwork, scheduling, etc. You have the ability to connect with as many preceptors as possible for potential clinical time.

What are the types of preceptors available to me?

Available preceptors in all specialties will be available for potential connections. There are two main types of preceptors. FREE OF SERVICE or FEE FOR SERVICE. Free of service preceptors are not charging for their clinical time and want to support the APRN community and APRN students with their professional expertise free of charge. Fee for service preceptors are requesting monetary compensation for their professional expertise and clinical hours and can vary depending on the specialty, facility, and provider. Agreements are set forth by the preceptor and not monitored nor governed by Precept Now. Payment transfers between members are not conducted on Precept Now.

What happens after my preceptor connects with me?

Once your preceptor accepts your request and connects with you, then you can start communicating with them directly. This includes when to start and documents needed by both parties. This website is just a meeting place. Once you gain communication then you can start. Each school and facility may be different and require different paperwork for each party. Documents & FEE FOR SERVICE preceptors accepting payments are not governed nor monitored by Precept Now.

What happens if I don’t complete requirements set out by the preceptor or their facility?

Once the preceptor accepts your request, then the process is up to you as a student to complete all necessary steps. Punctuality, proper professionalism and character while completing your practicum hours are your responsibility. Please note that all member agreements on Precept Now are not governed nor monitored by Precept Now. Please refer to any agreement set forth by the preceptor and agreement stipulations.
